Support in Recovery

The following pages can be helpful in setting up a support system for recovery.

Remember, although the dynamics and thought reform systems within cults, high demand groups and abusive relationships differ in their intensity, the most important aspect of recovery is to inform yourself or, as Dr. Margaret Singer stressed over and over again, psycho-education is the basic key to recovery --
that is, learn and begin to label the techniques and influences used in the group or relationship and how they effected you. Know that you're not alone ... and that there are resources here for you. If you would like copies of recovery articles, just email or call. ICSA has recovery workshops annually. You can find an upcoming workshop or conference on their web site at
http://icsahome.com  click on "conferences and workshops". The day before every conference there is an ex-member workshop. Every year in Colorado there is a regular 2-1/2 day workshop with a special track for people born/raised in groups. And in the Spring of every year there is a special workshop only for 2nd Generation Adult survivors of cults (SGAs).  reFOCUS also has a free enewsletter ... just email refocuscarol@att.net and ask to receive it.
